Local radio station is a hit

After less than six week on the air, a local radio station is proving to be a great success. Folkestone Academy FM prides itself on giving opportunities to people who have aspirations of all types. Whether it is local musicians or bands wanting some much needed air time, or students who want to make a career in the radio world, Folkestone Academy FM is willing to give people that chance.

Are the UK ready to take over rap music?

For many years USA have ruled the world when it comes to rap music, but is the UK ready to take over. With many big American artists, like 50 Cent and Lil’ Wayne, it always looked impossible for any Brit rappers to challenge them. However, when grime artist Dizzee Rascall had some success across the pond with his 2007 album, ‘Maths + English’, it seemingly gave other UK MC’s the confidence that they could do the same.

After this year’s BAFTA award nominations were revealed, there was a surprise inclusion for the increasingly popular hit show ‘The Only Way Is Essex’. The programme will go up against ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’, ‘Downtown Abbey’ and ‘Sherlock’ for the ‘YouTube Audience Award’.

It’s been one of the best kept secrets after choosing Brit label ‘Alexander McQueen’ to design the dress, and the beautiful frock did not disappoint on the big day.

Van Susans - have you heard about them yet?

As far as music is concerned, there is nothing I love more than seeing or hearing an act on the verge of fame. Well that is how I feel about the Bromley-based band ‘Van Susans’. I first heard about the rock group when working at the radio station I am currently at, Folkestone Academy FM, and the station prides itself on advertising local music talent.

After worldwide success for American MTV smash hit ‘Jersey Shore’, the UK is about to feel the force of another type of shore....’Geordie Shore’. MTV bosses have announced that filming has begun on a brand new show set in the North East and will follow eight loud and proud Geordies.
