TOWIE in surprise BAFTA nomination

TOWIE is gaining popularity

After this year’s BAFTA award nominations were revealed, there was a surprise inclusion for the increasingly popular hit show ‘The Only Way Is Essex’. The programme will go up against ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’, ‘Downtown Abbey’ and ‘Sherlock’ for the ‘YouTube Audience Award’.

The ITV2 reality programme follows the eventful lives of a group of Essex boys and girls and it is in its current second series that its popularity has rocketed. With the famous trademark sayings of ‘Oh my god’ and ‘Well jel’, the nation seems to have fallen in love with the fake tanned Essex locals.

Mick Norcross

In an exclusive interview with FAME, I was lucky enough to talk to one of the stars of the show, Mick Norcross. When talking to him, on a visit to his nightclub Sugar Hut, Norcross said he was shocked the show had received the BAFTA nomination. “I was surprised because the show isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It’s great for us.”
